Describing Kylie Jenner, the young model-entrepreneur, the Forbes magazine wrote, “At 21, she is set to be the youngest ever self-made billionaire.” Dictionary.com trolls Kylie Jenner and defined self-made and the severe tweet left everyone is split on the micro-blogging sites.
Dictionary.com is creating a splash on social media, just by sharing the definition of “self-made“.
Why did they willy-nilly tweet out this definition, (and use it in an exceedingly sarcasm-loaded sentence)?
Because on Wednesday the duvet of Forbes magazine’s September issue was released, stellar celebrity Kylie Jenner.
The cover reads, “At age 21, she’s set to be the youngest-ever self-made billionaire.” The list features 60 richest self-made women within the United States. Jenner has become the youngest ever self-made billionaire and usurp the title from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who created his first billionaire at 23.
The use of the term sparked an uproar from social media users who say Jenner is completely not “self-made.” Some went as way on to say that deeming her intrinsically is “an insult” and “offensive” to people who genuinely fit the bill.
Fans of Jenner came to her defense, and therefore the debate’s been on-going, ever since. Thursday morning, Dictionary.com showed up on Twitter to feature an authoritative voice to the discussion.
The account merely gave the definition of “self-made,” and went on to use it in an exceedingly sentence like so: “Self-made suggests that having succeeded in life unaided. Employed in a sentence: Forbes says that Kiley Jenner is a self-made woman.”
Within three hours the tweet had over 40,000 retweets and over 100,00 likes. The interactions are growing by the second:

The main argument folks are creating is that because the daughter of an Olympic athlete (Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner) and the sister of the Kim Kardashian, Kiley Jenner clearly comes from a family of astounding wealth.
